This is a small painting I did this week as a demonstration in masking for one of my students. I masked the whitest areas, then added very wet pigments to Arches 140 pound paper. After lots of wet applications of paint were applied, the masking was removed and the finishing touches, including the background, were completed. Part of the detail work was to soften the edges of the crisp white marks left by the masking. This was a fun little project!
